HR & Payroll Officer

Join a leading commercial supplier in the agricultural industry, Hybrid role, generous salary, full – time position.
Our client, Australia’s major commercial supplier of vegetable and tree seedlings, are currently seeking a full-time, HR and Payroll Officer to join their team. 

You will report to the General Manager (People and Culture), General Managers and Line Mangers to deliver the full function of Human Resources. You will be a team player with a hands-on approach, attention to detail, willing to assist and learn across the broader team as required.

Key Responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing, and reliable payment delivery for all staff.
  • Maintain employee records, including record-keeping and updating HR databases.
  • Provide expert advice and support to managers and staff on HR policies, procedures, and employment law matters.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including developing job descriptions, advertising positions, conducting interviews, and performing reference checks.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee inductions, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to continually enhance HR processes and procedures.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR and payroll roles.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and experience working with HRIS systems – up to 200 staff members.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to provide clear and concise advice to managers and staff.
  • Familiarity with relevant employment legislation and regulations.
  • Experience within the agricultural sector would be highly regarded.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage change.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
