A rare opportunity to work in one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the Southern Downs region!! $75-80k + Super + Travel Allowance
Our client, a family-owned fine dining bistro located in the picturesque High Country region atop the Great Dividing Range in Crows Nest, Queensland, is seeking a Chef/Kitchen Hand to join their expanding team.

  • Work schedule: Thursday to Sunday
  • Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Fuel allowance provided
  • Salary: $75,000 to $80,000, depending on experience
  • Start date – November 2024 

This is a rare opportunity to work in one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the Southern Downs region, known for its exceptional European-inspired menu featuring locally sourced Queensland produce.

With glowing reviews and guests traveling from across the state to experience the exquisite cuisine, this role offers the chance to be part of a unique dining destination. The bistro also boasts a delightful patisserie and café, offering delectable pastries, cakes, pies, sandwiches, chocolates, coffee, and tea, adding to the overall culinary experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes across different sections of the kitchen, including appetizers, mains, and desserts, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Baking: Assist with baking tasks, including pastries, breads, and other baked goods, following precise recipes and ensuring top quality.
  • Plating: Ensure that all dishes are beautifully and consistently presented, adhering to the restaurant’s presentation standards.
  • Support Across Kitchen: Provide assistance in all areas of the kitchen as needed, from prep work to cooking, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels to avoid waste.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining a safe and compliant kitchen environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure effective communication, teamwork, and a positive work atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Chef, Cook, or similar role in a restaurant or catering environment ( will also consider 3rd year apprentice or someone who is truly passionate about baking) 
  • Competence in various kitchen stations, including cooking, baking, and plating.
  • Strong understanding of different cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and strong communication skills.
