Unique opportunity for strategic and forward-thinking CFO to join the leadership team of a Toowoomba-based NFP.
The HB Group is working with a leading Toowoomba-based not-for-profit organisation to source a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their senior leadership team.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will be responsible for driving the financial and operational efficiency of the organisation, ensuring sound financial management, and overseeing key functions such as Finance, Procurement, Information Systems, People and Culture, and Strategic Planning. This is a pivotal leadership role contributing to the overall strategic direction and success of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Oversee procurement, contract management, IT, telecommunications, and HR administration functions.
- Provide high-level strategic advice and financial analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and corporate governance, including ASIC and the Corporations Act.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Corporate Services team.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, driving professional development and team cohesion.
- Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to contribute to the achievement of the Strategic Plan.
- Represent the organisation in negotiations, external stakeholder engagement, and funding discussions.
- Drive continuous improvement within corporate services functions and support EA/Quality & Risk to complete broader organisational QA
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Proven leadership experience in a financial management role, ideally within the not-for-profit or government-funded sector.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary financial management principles, accounting standards, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent project management, financial reporting, and budgeting skills.
- Ability to build and lead cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and positive workplace culture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar senior financial management role.
- Extensive knowledge of financial processes, including payroll, taxation, and superannuation legislation.
- Experience in financial reporting, audit processes, and compliance with ASIC and other regulatory bodies.
