Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Queensland’s building and construction industry? A leading State Government Department is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager (AO6/1) to join their team in Rockhampton.
In this pivotal position, you will contribute to the department’s mission of strengthening Queensland’s building and construction industry by providing high-level project management consulting services across a broad project portfolio.
Location: Rockhampton
Rate: $78.02 per hour
Duration: ASAP start – 19/12/2025 (with possible extension)
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of building project implementation – from pre-design, design, and documentation to contract administration and post-construction.
- Provide strong leadership in coordinating project staff, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Manage projects to meet scope, time, cost, quality, and client satisfaction, while ensuring profitability targets are achieved.
- Lead negotiations with consultants, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure value-for-money outcomes.
- Oversee contract coordination across traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Prepare and monitor project reports, audits, and performance reviews.
- Mentor and guide a team of Project Managers and project staff.
- Ensure quality assurance standards are maintained across all project phases.
About You:
- Proven experience in project management within the building and construction industry.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, engage, and coordinate project teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality outcomes within deadlines.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and financial performance management.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, or Quantity Surveying will be highly regarded (not mandatory).
