The thing I love most is the amazing staff who go out of their way to make everyone who deals with HB feel special and valued. It’s always great when you have helped a candidate to get their dream job or you have found the employer the ‘Unicorn’ they have been searching for.
I love that HB is a one-stop-shop for all your HR needs. We can assist with Recruitment, Labour Hire, HR consulting, Payroll Services, Training and Career Coaching. We always go above and beyond for all our clients and candidates and have a fantastic reputation for being professional, ethical and good at what we do! I think we have a great culture.
What is your greatest source of enjoyment at the HB Group?
After almost 20 years at HB, it has been great to watch the many clients and candidates that we have assisted, flourish!
Where do you feel you add value to candidates who are looking for work?
I like to take the time to get to know my candidates and try to instill confidence in them. Sharing life experiences, mentoring and guiding them when I can, so they have the best chance of securing their next career move.
Where do you feel you add value to clients who are seeking recruitment and/or HR support?
As a business owner, I am able to relate to employers and their needs, as well as some of my wins in retaining good staff and building a good work culture.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given in your career?
Treat people the way you want to be treated and don’t sweat the small stuff.
In terms of recruitment, just don’t give up – there is always someone for every job – we just have to find them (the Unicorn)!
If you asked a client to describe you, what would they say?
I hope that they would say I am professional, kind and ethical.
What is the most unusual assignment you have ever been asked to fill?
I wouldn’t call it unusual, however, one of the most challenging (and rewarding at the same time) was a Christmas holiday period ‘very’ casual, part-time, limited hours, school cleaner role – box ticked though.
Can you tell us about the most memorable moment of your career?
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of running Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) training, which is a language, literacy and numeracy course for disadvantaged people. I love seeing the changes in people when we are able to teach them to read and write and, in many cases, get their first job – it’s so rewarding.
Is there a client, candidate or project that stands out?
All of our clients and candidates are special but my students at the SEE program were amazing!
